ABOUT THE PEQUANNOCK DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE

We are the Municipal Committee representing the Democratic Party in Pequannock Township, NJ. Our committee members are also part of the Morris County Democratic Committee, representing our town and the party across all of Morris County.

The Municipal Committee consists of two District Chairs from each of the 12 voting districts in Pequannock. Every two years, District Chairs petition to be on the primary election ballot and are elected by their Democrat neighbors.

The role of the Municipal Committee is to build the Democratic party in town, encourage and facilitate voter participation, provide information about state and national Democrat candidates, and engage with local issues that are important to our voters.

New members are always welcome, either as District Chairs or meeting and event participants.

Land Acknowledgment

Pequannock Township exists on the ancestral homelands of the Lenape people, whose language provides us with the names Pompton and Pequannock. The Lenape peacefully roamed and farmed the land of this region until they were displaced by colonial settlers and forced into the northern mountains and beyond. We honor the Indigenous people who gently walked this land before us. We commit to educate our residents of the importance of the Lenape to our local history and to be better stewards of the land we inhabit.
